HS CROSS-COUNTRY: LEGACY'S BOWCUTT FINISHES 8TH AT LUBBOCK ISD INVITE

LUBBOCK – Legacy sophomore Bridger Bowcutt finished eighth with a time of 16 minutes, 53.7 seconds in the Class 6A 5-kilometer race of the Lubbock ISD Cross-Country Invitational, Saturday at Mae Simmons Park. Bowcutt helped lead the Legacy boys to a fourth-place finish (132 points) out of 11 teams in what is a tune up race on the same course that holds regionals and the District 2-6A meet this year. El Paso Americas (58 points) won the meet. Legacy freshman Jose Almanza finished 19th (17:31.1); Legacy freshman Oakley Atwood was 29th (17:41.1) and Midland High junior Conner Pate came in 31st (17:52.4). Legacy freshman Kyndall Jones finished 35th (22:25.5) in the Class 6A girls race. Big Spring placed third (99 points) in the Class 4A race, as the Steers landed two runners in the top 10 with sixth-place finisher Roman Perez (16:43.9) and ninth-place finisher Adrian Solis (17:00.4). Forsan senior Mason Bagwell was fifth (18:39.6) in the Class 2A boys race. Grady sophomore Hagan O’Donnell came in 10th (19:31.2) in the Class 1A boys race and freshman Emma Parker was 12th (14:25.1) in the 2-mile girls race to lead the Grady girls to a fourth-place showing.
